Chévere Poems

DELIRIUM

The loudest form of silence
is when you are not present,
feared most by my mind.

It imagines that distance
does not make the heart
grow any fonder,
but allows it to wonder
amongst deceiving souls.

MORNING NOTE

Sweetness,
I dared not at dawn time
disturb your beauty dreams,
fearing I might interrupt
a conversation with angels.

Craving,
nonetheless, a kiss before leaving,
I silently slid out of our bed.
Alas, such early disappointment
I hunger for eventide to arrive.

OCEAN FRONT
(Aguadilla, PR)

Met a genial lady, mid 20’s I guess,
one whom I would love to have
shared the end of a day with.

Since every sunset is unique.
that specific one could have been
claimed by us for all eternity.

I was impressed by her maturity,
moved by her keen observant eyes;
windows that do not reveal her soul.

What mystery lies beneath such beauty?
What wonders in secret lie waiting
to surface perchance with a kiss?
